Developed by The Shaw Company in partnership with Rush University Medical Center in the 1970's, Center Court Gardens featured 300 apartment units housed within 14 garden-style apartment buildings constructed on 8 acres of land, and was part of an urban renewal effort for the neighborhood surrounding Rush. Center Court spurred further development in the area, also by The Shaw Company, including a Hotel (Inn At University Village) and a townhome community (Garibaldi Square). Center Court Gardens was eventually converted into student housing for Rush University and continued to be managed by The Shaw Company until it’s demolition in 2017 to make room for additional Rush medical facilities.
